Broughton bests Wakefield tennis
In a clash between the Cap-7 Conference's two best girls tennis squads Tuesday, Broughton established itself as the team to beat, defeating Wakefield 9-0.
In singles play, Hamilton Lovett defeated Ally Prior 6-1, 6-0, Katie Davidson beat Shani Ervin 6-0, 6-1, Katie Kane dropped Taylor Orlando 6-0, 6-0, Camille Runyans downed Alanna Albrecht 6-0, 6-0, Kelsey Boole overtook Caroline Kohls 6-1, 6-0, and Asha Iyengar bested Jenna Martin 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles action, Lovett/Davidson defeated Prior/Martin 8-2, Kane/Iyengar knocked off Ervin/Albrecht 8-2, and Boole/Laura Robertson overcame Orlando/Kohls 8-3.
The Lady Wolverines' schedule doesn't get much easier, visiting Green Hope — one of the state's best squads — Thursday, Sept. 3. Wakefield hosts Sanderson Monday, Sept. 8.
The Captials and Lady Wolverines square off again Sept. 24 at Broughton.
