Pride tennis serves up 7-2 win Monday

The Leesville Road girls tennis team kicked off the second half of its conference schedule with a convincing 7-2 victory over visiting Sanderson Monday.

The Pride's No. 1 player Alicia Busch set the tone early, recording a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kassi Wehbie.

Amy Weischedel, Julianne Dragan and Kate Medynskaya followed suit for Leesville, each posting a victory in their respective singles matches.

While the Lady Spartans managed just two wins, both came in thrilling tiebreakers.
Sanderson's Christine Buch — playing No. 4 singles — outlasted Jessica Kenny, pulling out a 6-3, 4-6, 10-1 decision.

And in No. 6 singles match, Abbie Schindo bested Emily Foulke 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.

The Pride swept the doubles' action, with the duos of Alicia Busch/Weischedel and Bailey Wilson/Dragan winning 8-1 and 8-0, respectively.

Leesville's Abby Boyce and Connor Grant narrowly defeated Maria Caldwell and Matti Smith by a score of 9-7.

Sanderson visits Enloe Thursday, Sept. 25.

Leesville hosts WF-R Tuesday, Sept. 29.
